The Commander of the Army visited the Area of Responsibility of the 11 Infantry Division to review the progress of ongoing disaster-relief operations.
He first proceeded to the safety centre established at the Gampola Jummah Mosque, where he assessed the condition and well-being of civilians affected by the recent adverse weather. He engaged with officials and residents to identify their immediate requirements and essential needs.
The Army Chief then inspected the operational headquarters established by the Special Forces and Airmobile Brigade troops who are actively involved in relief efforts.
He also visited the residence of a serving soldier in Gampola whose home had been damaged during the disaster.
Thereafter, he visited the worksite in the Gadolbokkuwa area along the Gampola-Nawalapitiya main road and subsequently inspected the Engineer site at Nawalapitiya, where troops are conducting disaster-response and reconstruction activities.He also visited the Safety Centre at Naranwita Temple.
The visit concluded with an inspection of the 111 Infantry Brigade Headquarters at Doluwa to further evaluate the ongoing relief operations.
