Major General H.P.I. Perera RWP RSP, Commander, Logistics Command, Security Force Headquarters (Jaffna) was invited to the office of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, on 17 December 2025, prior to his retirement from the Sri Lanka Army after a distinguished military career spanning over 34 years.
Brief profile of the retiring senior officer:
Major General H.P.I. Perera RWP RSP, enlisted in the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet for Intake 36 on 26 August 1991. Upon successful completion of military training at the Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyatalawa, he was commissioned in the rank of Second Lieutenant and posted to the Gajaba Regiment on 19 June 1993. After steadily elevating through subsequent ranks during his service, he was promoted to the rank of Major General on 27 December 2024. The senior officer will retire from the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army with effect from 31 December 2025 upon reaching 55 years of age. At the time of retirement, he was serving as the Commander, Logistics Command, Security Force Headquarters (Jaffna).
Throughout his illustrious military career, the senior officer held numerous key appointments. He served as Platoon Commander of 9th Battalion the Gajaba Regiment, Officer Commanding of 9th Battalion the Gajaba Regiment, Officer Commanding and Operations and Training Officer of 4th Battalion the Gajaba Regiment, Staff Officer 3 at Headquarters of Sri Lanka Military Academy, Adjutant of Sri Lanka Military Academy, Operations and Training Officer at 3rd Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment, Second-in-Command of 2nd Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment, Deputy Senior Security Coordinator at Army Headquarters.
He also served as Commanding Officer of 1st Battalion the Gajaba Regiment, Commanding Officer of Training Wing in Infantry Training Centre, Staff Officer 1 (Adjutant General) of Adjutant General's Branch at Army Headquarters, Commanding Officer of Headquarters Battalion at Army Headquarters, Commander of Army Headquarters Brigade, Commander of 612 Infantry Brigade, Overall Security Coordinator of Office of the Chief of Defence Staff (OCDS) and Commander of Logistics Command at Security Force Headquarters (Jaffna).
In recognition of his dedicated and exemplary service, he was awarded the Rana Wickrama Padakkama (Awarded 2 times) and Rana Sura Padakkama (Awarded 2 times).
The senior officer successfully completed the Young Officers Course, Basic Marksmanship Course, Battalion Support Weapons Officers’ Course and Basic Parachute Course. He also attended several overseas courses, including the Young Officers Infantry Course in Pakistan, Junior Command Course in India and Driving and Maintenance Instructors Mechanized Course in India.
