Major General Y.A.B.M. Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, Chief of Staff of the Army, graced the Felicitation Ceremony and the Prefects’ Guild Investiture Ceremony 2026 at Isipathana College on 14 May 2026..
Isipathana College is the Chief of Staff’s alma mater, the institution that played a pivotal role in shaping his character and leadership journey, laying the foundation for who he is today.
Upon arrival, the Chief of Staff received a warm welcome from Mr. Darshana Udawaththage, the Principal of Isipathana College followed by a grand reception led by the College Dancing Troupe. The school cadets also honored the Chief of Staff with a Guard of Honor.
Then, the Chief of Staff graced the Prefects’ Guild Investigation Ceremony and their Chief of Staff again had a grand reception by the College Dancing Troupe and the Cultural Group. The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp singing of the National Anthem followed by Observances of Religious Rites.
Following the event, the Chief of Staff addressed the students and elaborated on the role and leadership qualities of a College Prefect. Also encouraged all pupils to continue striving for excellence in both academics, drill and sports. At the end of the speech, he also thanked the Principal, President and all members of the Old Boys Association and Head Prefect and all the Pupils for inviting him as the Chief Guest, as Officer in the Highest Seat of the Military representing Isipathana College.
Clergy, Teachers, Pupils, Old Pupils including the Officers of Tri Services and Police, Parents and family members of the pupils also participated to witness and color the ceremony.
