Army Troops Restore Bridge to Reconnect Galaha Hospital and Town

The troops of the 6th Field Engineer Regiment successfully launched a Compact 100 Bridge at Galaha - Delthotawatta to restore access to Galaha Hospital and Galaha Town, which had been severed due to the devastating heavy rain on 18 May 2026.

In response to the emergency situation, the PRDA proposed relocating the Medawala Bridge to the Galaha area in order to restore access to the hospital and the surrounding town area. Following the successful completion of the emergency bridge installation, the route was reopened for civilian use.
