Troops of the 562 and 563 Infantry Brigades, in collaboration with the Spirit of Giving organization, conducted a book and stationery donation programme for students affected by the Ditwah Cyclone on 05 February 2026 at Vavuniya Rajendrakulam Government Tamil Mixed School and Vavuniya Mahakachchakodiya Government Sinhala Mixed School.
Major General S.A.U.A. Solangaarachchi RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding of the 56 Infantry Division, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The programme was organised with generous financial sponsorship from Ms. Rosie Thuring, Chairperson of Spirit of Giving, with support from Mr. Cecil Roche and Mr. Savantha De Seram. During the event, 57 students from grades 1 to 5 of the Tamil Mixed School and 75 students from grades 1 to 5 of the Sinhala Mixed School received book packs and stationery items.
Senior officers, officers, other ranks, principals, teachers and students participated in the event.
