A social welfare programme titled ‘Jana Suwa Yatra’ was conducted at the historic Dimbulagala Aranya Senasanaya on 28 February 2026, in conjunction with the 59th Birth Anniversary of the Incumbent, Most Venerable Dimbulagala Rahulalankara Nayaka Thero, in collaboration with the Colombo Women’s Organization and Supreme Media.
At the invitation of the Most Venerable Incumbent, Major General J.S.B.W. Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc, Commander, Security Forces (East), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The programme comprised a large-scale medical clinic and several community welfare initiatives for the benefit of residents in the Dimbulagala area. The medical clinic, which was the focal point of the programme, provided consultations and treatment by a team of Sri Lankan medical specialists, including ophthalmologists and dental surgeons, thereby extending essential healthcare services to the community.
Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, Officers of the Mahaweli Authority, Mrs. Surekha Gardiner and representatives of the Colombo Women’s Organization, members of the Board of Lay Trustees (Dayaka Sabha), representatives of non-governmental organizations and a large gathering of residents attended the programme.
