Army Extends Educational Support to Students of Am/Maha Unuwathura Bubula Vidyalaya

A programme to distribute school books and school supplies to students of Am/Maha Unuwathura Bubula Vidyalaya, under the Maha Oya Education Zone, was conducted at the school premises on 17 January 2026. The programme benefited students from primary grades up to the G.C.E Ordinary Level.

The school book and supplies distribution ceremony was jointly organised by the 243 Infantry Battalion and the 16 Sri Lanka National Guard Battalion, under the overall supervision of the 24 Infantry Division.

The event was graced by Major General K.V.N.P. Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Artillery, along with Major General J.S.B.W. Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc, the Commander of Security Force Headquarters (East).

The financial sponsorship for the programme was generously provided by the 'Tarana Foundation'. The Chairman of the Tarana Foundation, along with a group of officials, also participated in the event. Deserving students of Unuwathura Bubula Vidyalaya were provided with essential school books and school supplies during the programme.

The General Officer Commanding of the 24 Infantry Division, the Commander of the 243 Infantry Brigade, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks of the 16 Sri Lanka National Guard Battalion, as well as teachers, parents and residents of the community participated in the programme.
