Army Chief Visits Security Forces (Central)

Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, officially visited the Security Forces (Central) on 01 November 2025 to inspect the operational readiness.

Upon his arrival, he was warmly welcomed by Major General K.A.W.N.H. Bandaranayake USP, Commander, Security Forces (Central), together with Brigadier B.A.P. Liyanage RWP RSP USP, Director of Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation and other senior officers.

During the visit, the Army Chief attended the medical camp at the Volunteer Force Training School, Diyathalawa, conducted by the Directorate of Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation, in collaboration with the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU), as the 6th phase of medical camp for disabled retired personnel, as part of a series of ongoing medical programmes.

During the event, 350 spectacles were symbolically distributed to disabled personnel by the Commander of the Army and other distinguished guests. Of these, 300 spectacles were sponsored by the ASVU, while an additional 50 spectacles were generously donated by the Eye Care Institute under the guidance of Optometrist B.A.S.I.A. Bamunusinghe.

Meanwhile, the Army Chief visited the Army Base Hospital, Diyathalawa, where he ceremonially inaugurated the newly constructed Officers’ Accommodation Complex.

Then the Commander conducted an inspection of its modern facilities, designed to enhance the comfort and welfare of officers serving at the hospital and he also visited the medical laboratory.

Subsequently, the Commander of the Army visited the Security Force Headquarters (Central), where he was briefed by the Commander, Security Forces (Central), on operational readiness and the welfare of troops under command. During his visit, the Army Chief also inspected the Corporals’ Club and Privates’ Mess at the Headquarters.

In addition, the Commander visited under command battalions in the area, including the Sri Lanka Military Academy.

Senior officers, officers, and other ranks participated in the event.
