The Finals of the Commander's Cup Inter-Regiment Rugby Championship, which commenced on 24 June 2025, concluded on 01 August 2025 at the Army Rugby Ground, Army Cantonment in Panagoda, was held with the participation of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) and the Sri Lanka Army General Service Corps (SLAGSC) teams.
Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Major General K.M.P.S.B Kulatunga RSP ndc psc, the Commander, Security Forces (Wanni) and Chairman of the Army Rugby Committee, warmly welcomed the Army Chief upon his arrival at the venue.
The SLAC competed against the SLAGSC during the final match. In a challenging encounter, the SLAGSC team emerged victorious with a score of 32.
Adding significance to the finals, the Army Chief enthusiastically witnessed the match and extended his congratulations to the winners and all participants.
Following the match, the Army Chief presented tokens of appreciation to the referees, the Best Player trophy, and the Championship Trophy to the SLAGSC players. Prizes for the second runners-up and first runners-up, were distributed by the Chief of Staff.
Lance Corporal D.G.S.G Dikkumbura of SLAGSC was awarded as the Best Player of the tournament.
Principal Staff Officers, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and a large number of spectators witnessed the final encounter.
