Major General E.M.M Fernando Hdmc Lsc AATO, the Commander, Logistics Command and Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps, was invited to the Office of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, along with his family members on 04 July 2025, prior to his retirement from the Sri Lanka Army after completing a distinguished military career spanning 35 years.
Below is the brief profile of the retiring Senior Officer:
Major General E.M.M Fernando Hdmc Lsc AATO enlisted in the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet for the intake PMA 2 on 07 September 1990. Upon successful completion of military training at the Pakistan Military Academy- 02 (PMA) and the Sri Lanka Military Academy - Diyatalawa, he was commissioned in the rank of Second Lieutenant and posted to the Regiment of Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps on 13 March 1991. He was steadily elevated to subsequent ranks during his service and was promoted to the rank of Major General on 31 October 2023. He will retire from the Regular Force of the Sri Lanka Army with effect from 08 July 2025 upon reaching 55 years of age. At the time of retirement, he was holding the appointments of Commander, Logistics Command and Colonel Commandant, Sri Lanka Army Ordnance Corps.
Throughout his illustrious career, Major General E.M.M Fernando Hdmc Lsc AATO held a range of key appointments. In recognition of his dedicated and valiant service to the Sri Lanka Army, he has been awarded the Utthama Seva Padakkama (USP).
The Senior Officer has successfully completed a number of local training courses including the Officer Par Excellence Course, Computer Course, Stores Management and Purchasing Procedure Course, United Nations Peacekeeping Pre-deployment Training Course.
He has also followed several overseas training programmes, including the Basic Ordnance Officers Course in Bangladesh, Logistics Staff Course in Pakistan, Financial Management in Logistics and Material Management Human Resources Management Course in Pakistan, Advanced Materials Management Course in India, Senior Management Officers Course in India, United Nations Logistics Officers’ (UNLOC) Course in Bangladesh and Higher Defence Management Course in India.
In terms of academic achievements, he possesses Certificate in Human Rights at the University of Peradeniya, Diploma in Hotel Management at the Aquinas University College in Sri Lanka and Master of Management Studies at the Osmania University in India.
He has also participated in international forums such as a visit to India for Establishment of Small Arms Ammunition Production Plan in 2023.
