Warrant Officer II Kalinga Kumarage made history by securing the Bronze Medal in the Men’s 400m event at the Asian Athletics Championship, held on 28 May 2025, with a time of 45.55 seconds, marking a significant achievement for Sri Lanka.
This milestone is particularly noteworthy, as it is the first time since 2007 that a Sri Lankan athlete has won a medal in the Men’s 400m at the Asian Athletics Championship.
