The Araly Point Monument in Kayts on 08 August 2025 recalled the undying memories of one of the country’s finest legendary military leaders, Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa RWP RSP VSV USP rcds psc, and several other military war heroes who made the supreme sacrifice in an LTTE landmine blast at Araly Point on 08 August 1992.
The Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General K.A.N Rasika Kumara ndc psc, graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest.
The proceedings commenced with the singing of the National Anthem, followed by religious observances. Afterwards, the mounting of the vigil took place, and a two-minute silence was observed in remembrance of the fallen war heroes. Moments later, the Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna), placed a floral wreath and saluted in memory of all fallen veterans. This was followed by other Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks laying floral wreaths at the Araly Point War Heroes Monument.
Subsequently, the ‘Last Post’ bugle call was played in honour of the fallen war heroes, followed by the dismounting of the vigil, marking the conclusion of the day’s proceedings.
The Commander of Northern Naval Area, Senior Tri-Service Officers, Officers and troops participated in the event.
