An all-night ‘Pirith’ Chanting Ceremony, marking the final religious observance for the forthcoming 76th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Army on 10 October 2025, was held at Sri Maha Bodhirajaramaya Temple, Panagoda, on 06 and 07 October 2025. Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, together with Mrs. Swendrini Dissanayake, President of the Army Seva Vanitha Unit (ASVU) attended the ceremony.
The Most Ven. Dr Kirinde Assaji Thero, Chief Incumbent of the Gangaramaya Temple, played the key role in the religious proceedings and delivered an oration together with Ven. Eethalawetunawewe Gnanathillaka Thero, Chief Incumbent of the Rathnamali Temple, commending the Sri Lanka Army for its dedicated service to the Nation and invoking blessings for its continued success. The proceedings concluded with the offering of ‘Heel Daana’ to the Venerable Maha Sangha on the morning of 07 October 2025.
Major General D.K.S.K. Dolage USP nps psc, Chief of Staff of the Army, Major General Y.A.B.M. Yahampath RWP RSP ndu psc, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army, Major General K.V.N.P. Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Major General U.K.D.D.P. Udugama RWP RSP USP ndc psc, Commander, Security Forces (West) and Chairman of the Army Buddhist Association, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and relatives of fallen War Heroes, participated in the event.
