The troops of the 59 Infantry Division arranged a formal ceremony to bid farewell to the outgoing General Officer Commanding (GOC), Major General D.R.N Hettiarachchi RWP RSP USP, on 20 October 2025 at the 59 Infantry Division.
In accordance with military traditions, a guard turnout and a guard of honour were accorded before he marked the end of his tenure.
Adding memories to the day, the outgoing GOC was invited to pose for a group photograph. In his address to all ranks, the GOC expressed appreciation for the commitment and dedication demonstrated by all ranks during his tenure.
The formalities for the day concluded with an all ranks tea, providing an opportunity for the outgoing GOC to interact with all ranks.
Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the event.
