54 Infantry Division Marks its 15th Anniversary

The 54 Infantry Division celebrated its 15th Anniversary on 10 September 2025.

In parallel with the event, a series of religious observances were conducted. On 05 September 2025, Hindu religious rites were performed at the Thiruketheeswaram Kovil in Mannar, Islamic prayers were held at the Mannar Mosque and Christian services were conducted at the Mannar Church.

On 07 September 2025, an almsgiving was offered to devotees observing ‘Sil’ at the Thanthirimale Rajamaha Viharaya. On the same day, a milk rice dansala was organised at the temple premises.

As the final religious observance, a traditional Bodhi Pooja was conducted at the “Manu Vehera” Temple.

In addition, a sports tournament was conducted from 26 August to 08 September 2025.

On 10 September 2025, General Officer Commanding was accorded a Guard Turnout and Guard of Honour. Afterwards, the GOC addressed the troops.

The day’s proceedings concluded with an All-Ranks lunch followed by a musical evening. Major General A.M.C Abeykoon RWP RSP USP ndc, General Officer Commanding of 54 Infantry Division, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the events.
