Major General B.G.S Fernando USP Hdmc psc ceremonially assumed duties as the 14th Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) on 11 July 2025, during a solemn ceremony held at the Regimental Headquarters in Polhengoda.
The day’s proceedings commenced with a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour, followed by a series of customary events including invoking religious blessings, a group photograph, the planting of a commemorative sapling, a formal address to the troops, and All-Ranks Tea, fostering unity and camaraderie among all members of the Corps. The ceremony concluded with a visit to key facilities within the camp premises.
The event was attended by several Senior Officers and Other Ranks of the SLCMP.
