59th Annual Army Road Race Concludes Successfully

The annual Army Road Race, organised for the 59th consecutive year, commenced on Sunday morning (08 March 2026) at the entrance of Army Headquarters with the gracious participation of Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, the Commander of the Army.

The race, covering a distance of approximately 22 kilometers, commenced at 6.00 a.m. from Battaramulla and concluded near the Army gymnasium at the Panagoda Army Cantonment. The route passed through Diyatha Uyana, Battaramulla, Malabe, Athurugiriya and Habarakada before reaching the finishing point.

A total of 133 athletes (109 men and 24 women) representing 19 Regiments participated in the event. The competition was organised under the supervision of Major General B.G.S. Fernando USP Hdmc psc, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Army Athletic Committee.

Major General D.K.S.K. Dolage USP nps psc, the Chief of Staff of the Army, also participated in the opening ceremony. The awarding ceremony of the event was conducted under the patronage of Major General K.V.N.P. Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF), together with several other Senior Officers.
