The Army War College successfully convened its 3rd Board of Management meeting on 25 February 2026 at its premises in Buttala. The meeting was presided by Major General D.K.S.K. Dolage USP nps psc, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and focused on key aspects of infrastructure development and the modernisation of teaching and learning processes, paving the way for enhanced operational effectiveness.
Prior to the meeting, the Chief of Staff addressed the student officers of the Junior Command Course and Senior Command Course. During his address, he highlighted the essential qualities of leadership and emphasised the importance of continuous professional development, inspiring the future leaders of the Sri Lanka Army. His thought-provoking speech was followed by the donation of his personal collection of books to the college library, a gesture that will further enrich the academic pursuits of the student officers.
The Board of Management meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including the Director General General Staff, Commandant Army War College, Director General Research, Concepts and Doctrine, Director Budget and Finance Management, Director Engineer Services, Colonel Training representing the Director Training, and the Chief Instructor of the Army War College. The collective expertise and insights shared during the meeting reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to excellence in military education.
Upon arrival, the visiting Chief of Staff was accorded a drive pass and invited for a group photograph, followed by an interaction with the Commandant and the staff of the Army War College.
In addition, the delegation inspected the ongoing construction work of the India–Sri Lanka Friendship Sports Complex.
At the conclusion of the programme, the Commandant of the Army War College, Major General D.K.R.N. Silva RSP USP psc, presented a plaque to the Chief of Staff in appreciation of his valuable contribution to the meeting and the continued development of the institution.
