Major General K.V.N.P. Premaratne RSP USP nps psc, Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF), visited the 2nd (V) Battalion of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) at Kelanimulla and the 2nd (V) Battalion of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (SLASC) at Katunayake on 24 February 2026.
Upon arrival at 2 (V) SLLI, the Commandant was welcomed by the Commanding Officer and was accorded a Guard Turnout by the troops of the battalion. Thereafter, he planted a sapling, posed for a group photograph, and attended a briefing conducted by the Commanding Officer.
Subsequently, the Commandant addressed the troops and emphasised self-realisation as the cornerstone of professional excellence. He encouraged all personnel to clearly define their identity, mission and specific objectives to ensure peak performance in both military operations and civil engagements. Later, a special memento was presented to the Commandant, following which he inspected the camp premises.
Thereafter, he visited 2 (V) SLASC, where he was warmly received by the Commanding Officer and accorded a Guard Turnout by the troops. Following the group photograph, the Commanding Officer briefed the Commandant on existing administrative procedures and the current operational status of the battalion. Addressing the troops, the Commandant outlined strategic directives for battalion development and its broader impact on the organisation. He also highlighted the importance of maintaining good conduct and fostering a problem-free working environment.
Subsequently, the Commandant inspected the camp premises and signed the visitors’ book. A memento was presented to him to mark the occasion. Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the visit.
