Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, paid an official visit to Ranaviru Sevana – Ragama on 28 January 2026.
Upon arrival, the Commander of the Army was warmly received by Major General H.H.K.S.S. Hewage RWP RSP USP rcds psc, Adjutant General of the Sri Lanka Army, together with Brigadier R.J.L.K. Weerakoon RWP RSP, Director of Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation, and Brigadier G.R.S. Dharmaratne USP, Commandant of Ranaviru Sevana – Ragama.
The visit commenced with a discussion between the Army Chief and the resident counsellors, focusing on the ongoing rehabilitation and welfare programmes conducted for the inmates. Thereafter, the Commander of the Army observed a music and drama therapy implemented to enhance their mental and emotional well-being.
During the visit, the Army Chief formally handed over a vehicle to Ranaviru Sevana – Ragama to facilitate the daily activities and transportation needs of the resident inmates. The donation was made under the directives of His Excellency the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, with the objective of further strengthening welfare support for differently abled and rehabilitated war heroes.
