Chief of the Army Staff, Indian Army Arrives in Sri Lanka

General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) of the Indian Army, arrived in Sri Lanka on 06 January 2026 with his spouse, Mrs. Sunita Dwivedi, on an official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral defence cooperation between the two nations.

Upon his arrival, General Upendra Dwivedi was warmly received by Major General D.K.S.K. Dolage USP nps psc, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army, together with Dr. Satyanjal Pandey, Deputy High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka.

During the visit, COAS is scheduled to meet and hold discussions with senior military and government officials. The discussions will focus on training cooperation and regional security matters, with the objective of enhancing professional military communication and collaboration between the two armies.

Directors of Army Headquarters, officials from the High Commission of India in Sri Lanka, senior officers and officers were present at the occasion.
