All Ranks of the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Air Force have donated one day’s salary to the ‘Rebuilding Sri Lanka’ Fund, established to restore livelihoods and rebuild the country affected by Cyclone Ditwah.
Accordingly, the total contribution made by the Tri-Forces amounts to Rs. 372,776,918.28.
The Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, contributed Rs. 250 million, while the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Kanchana Banagoda RSP USP ndc psc, donated Rs. 73,963,879.71, and the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Vasu Bandu Edirisinghe WWV RWP RSP and three Bars USP fndu(China) psc qhi, contributed Rs. 48,813,038.97.
The relevant cheques were formally handed over to Secretary to the President, Dr. Sanath Nandika Kumaranayake, yesterday (31) at the Presidential Secretariat.
The event was also attended by the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence, Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) WWV RWP and two Bars RSP and Bar USP MMSc (Strat Stu – China) MSc (Def Stu) in Mgt MSc (Def & Strat Stu) fndu (China) psc.
