Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, made an official two day visit to the Jaffna Peninsula from 18 to 20 October 2025.
During his visit, he engaged in a series of significant activities to assess the wellbeing of soldiers and the operational readiness of troops deployed at Security Forces (Jaffna). Upon his arrival at the Security Force Headquarters (Jaffna), he was warmly welcomed by Major General K.A.N Rasika Kumara ndc psc, Commander, Security Forces (Jaffna).
The Army Chief visited the newly constructed Character Development Centre (CDC) at Vasavilan, the Army Base Hospital in Palaly, and the American Missionary Tamil Mixed School at Chullipuram. He also visited the 11th Battalion of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry, the 5th Battalion of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps and the 7th Battalion of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps.
The Commander of the Army paid his respects to the historic Sri Nagavihara Temple, where he received blessings from Venerable Meegahajandure Siriwimala Thero. He also visited the Bishop’s House in Jaffna and met Rt. Rev. Dr. Justin Bernard Gnanapragasam.
On the second day of his visit, the Commander of the Army visited the 9th (V) Battalion of the Sri Lanka Light Infantry, the 11th Battalion of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment and the 521 Infantry Brigade.
