Passing Out Parade of the Special Forces Basic Course No. 57 held at Maduru Oya

The Passing Out Parade of the Special Forces Basic Course No. 57 was held on 20 March 2026 at the Special Forces Training School (SFTS) in Maduru Oya. A total of 05 Officers and 59 Other Ranks, who had successfully undergone an intense nine-month basic training course, joined the Regiment.

Lieutenant General Lasantha Rodrigo RSP ctf-ndu psc IG, Commander of the Army, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

Major General W.B.M.K.G.K. Weerasekara WWV RWP RSP USP AUSWC psc, Colonel of the Regiment, Special Forces, together with Colonel D.M.C. Gunasekara RWP RSP USP psc, Commandant of the SFTS, received the Chief Guest and invited him to review the parade.

Major N.P.N.M. Nanayakkara USP psc commanded the colourful Passing Out Parade (POP), while Major S.J. Wijemanna USP served as the Second-in-Command.

Awards were presented to outstanding performers of the course. Accordingly, Second Lieutenant R.G.T.G. Rajapakshe was recognised as the Best in Physical Fitness, while Second Lieutenant L.G.K.M. De Silva was awarded the Best in Tactics. The title of the Best Shooter was awarded to Lance Corporal S.S.M. Kumara, while Second Lieutenant L.G.K.M. De Silva was also adjudged the Best Student of Special Forces Basic Course No. 57.

Commander, Security Forces (East), along with Principal Staff Officers, Defence Attachés, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and family members of the passed out Officers and Other Ranks attended the ceremony.
