A delegation from the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations (UNDPKO) currently in Sri Lanka paid a courtesy call on Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army at the Army Headquarters on Wednesday (20).

The UNDPKO team during the friendly meet inquired into the status quo regarding the Army’s preparedness for future UN peacekeeping assignments.

Lieutenant General Senanayake explained about the vetting processes of the Sri Lanka’s Human Rights Commission (HRC), now in place.

Major General Dananjith Karunaratne, Director General General Staff (DGGS), Major General Mervyn Perera, Director General, Directorate of Overseas Operations and Brigadier Prathapa Thilakaratne, Deputy Director Overseas Operations were associated with the meeting at the Commander’s office. |
