SLAC Celebrates 69th Anniversary

The Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) celebrated its 69th Anniversary on 15 December 2024 at the Rock House Camp, under the guidance of Major General M.S. Devapriya USP ndc, Quarter Master General of Army Headquarters and Colonel Commandant of SLAC.

Upon arrival, the Colonel Commandant was accorded a Guard Turnout and then paid floral tribute to the statue of General Deshamanya D.S. Attygalle MVO idc psc D Litt, the Father of the Corps. He was then welcomed by Senior Officers of the SLAC.

Following this, the Colonel Commandant reviewed the Anniversary Parade and extended his greetings to all Serving and Retired Officers, Other Ranks, and Civil Staff. Several trophies were presented to Battalions that excelled in selected fields, while the 5 Reconnaissance Regiment received the Most Outstanding Regiment Trophy for 2024. Officers and Other Ranks who achieved excellence in professional courses and sports events were honoured with the Colonel Commandant’s Honour.

As part of the celebrations, the Veterans Association of SLAC awarded six scholarships to underprivileged children, and the SLAC Seva Vanitha Branch donated book packs to children of SLAC families as part of their Annual Book Donation Programme. The Armoured Corps Journal 2024 was also launched during the event.

Mrs. Lali Kobbekaduwa, Retired Cavalry Members, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and Civil Workers participated in the event.
