Major General K.V.N.P Premaratne RSP USP psc, the Commander, Security Forces (East), assumed duties as the 27th Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC) on 12 December 2024, at the Regimental Headquarters, Borella.

Upon arrival, the incoming Colonel Commandant was warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant and accorded a Guard Turnout, followed by a Guard of Honour. Subsequently, he laid a floral wreath at the War Heroes’ monument in tribute to the regiment’s fallen war heroes.

Thereafter, the Colonel Commandant officially assumed his new responsibilities amidst religious observances, in the presence of Senior Officers and staff of the Regimental Headquarters.

As part of the day's proceedings, the Senior Officer addressed the troops and later joined an All-Ranks tea. Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks participated in the event.
