The Mechanized Infantry Regiment (MIR) inaugurated a new Tennis Court and Calisthenics Park on 29 October 2024, fulfilling a long-standing need to promote physical fitness and sportsmanship among Officers and Other Ranks.

Major General W.M.S.C.K. Wanasinghe RSP USP, Colonel of the Regiment of MIR and General Officer Commanding of the 21 Infantry Division, officially opened the facilities.

The event featured the unveiling of a commemorative plaque, followed by an exhibition tennis match by the Army tennis pool, with awards presented to participants.
