Army Constructs and Hands Over Four New Houses in SF Wanni Area

As part of the Sri Lanka Army's 75th anniversary celebrations, four new houses were constructed by the 8th Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, 4th Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, 10 (V) Gamunu Watch, and the 11th Sri Lanka Artillery and officially handed over to beneficiaries on 12 October 2024.

The 8th Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment built a house for a needy soldier, (S/100613) Lance Corporal A Jerram of the Sri Lanka Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (SLEME), in Jeewanagar, Murunkan.

Meanwhile, the 4th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment constructed a house for a needy family in Pannankaddukoddu (West), Mannar.

The 10(V) Gamunu Watch Regiment completed the construction of a new house for a deserving family in Kuruil, Wattakandal, Mannar.

Additionally, the 11th Sri Lanka Artillery constructed a house for a needy family in Kaddukarankudirippu, Selwari, through the efforts of its personnel.

These housing projects were successfully implemented under the direction of Major General J.P.C. Peiris RWP RSP ndc, Commander of the Security Forces (Wanni), with the guidance of Major General R.P.A.R.P. Rajapaksha RSP, General Officer Commanding of the 54 Infantry Division.

The 8th Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, along with all ranks of the battalion, completed the housing project under the supervision of Brigadier T.E.M. Chandrasakara RWP psc, Commander of the 542 Infantry Brigade, and Major S.H.R.G. De Silva RSP psc, the Commanding Officer of the 8th Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment.

The 10(V) Gamunu Watch, under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel W.G.G.S. Bandara, and supported by all ranks of the battalion, completed their project under the supervision of Brigadier B.Y.C. Fernando RWP USP, Commander of the 541 Infantry Brigade.

Major C.S.K. Liyanage psc, Commanding Officer of the 4th Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment, along with his troops, and Lieutenant Colonel B.M.R. Ferdinandarson psc IG, Commanding Officer of the 11th Sri Lanka Artillery, along with his troops, completed their respective projects under the supervision of Brigadier B.Y. Nanayakkara RSP psc, Commander of the 543 Infantry Brigade.
