Military Funeral Held for Late Colonel D.M.B.P.B. Dissanayaka RSP USP

The military funeral of the late Colonel D.M.B.P.B. Dissanayaka RSP USP of the Sri Lanka Artillery, who served the country for more than 28 years, took place on Wednesday (09 Oct) afternoon at the Borella General Cemetery.
Principal Staff Officers,Senior Officers, Directors, Family Members and other mourners were also present to pay their respects to the late Senior Officer.
In accordance with military traditions, troops received the remains and offered a salute near the cemetery entrance before placing the coffin on the gun carriage, draped with the National Flag.
As the funeral procession reached the main entrance of the cemetery, a representative group of Senior Officers formally received the coffin and began to escort it towards the crematorium, with family members and Officers lined up behind.
The formal Special Part I Order, issued by the Adjutant General of the Sri Lanka Army, was then read out to the mourners. Troops, in conformity with military traditions, saluted the deceased, presenting a symbolic gun salute, the highest honour a military Officer can receive upon his demise.
Following the Last Post bugle call, signifying that the great soldier had gone to his final rest, the remains were taken to the crematorium.
Afterwards, Major General B.K.G.M.L. Rodrigo RSP psc IG, Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Artillery, presented the bereaved family with the decorations and medals that Colonel D.M.B.P.B. Dissanayaka RSP USP had earned during his illustrious career, in keeping with military tradition.
