The Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) bade farewell to the outgoing Colonel of the Regiment, Major General G.M.N Perera RWP RSP USP ndc, on 7 October 2024, during a formal ceremony held at the SLLI Regimental Centre.

Upon his arrival, the outgoing Colonel of the Regiment was greeted in a Guard Turnout at the main entrance, followed by a Guard of Honour at the parade square. Afterwards, he paid a floral tribute to the fallen War Heroes at the Regimental Monument and posed for group photographs with all ranks. The Senior Officer then interacted with the troops during a tea at the Non-Commissioned Officers' Club.

In the evening, a farewell dinner was hosted in honour of the retiring Senior Officer, with the participation of all SLLI Officers and their spouses. During the dinner, a memento was presented to the Senior Officer in appreciation of his service to the SLLI.
