At the South Asian Junior Athletics Championship held in India from 11 to 13 September 2024, Recruit W.J.R. Alwis of the Sri Lanka Artillery achieved notable success by winning a bronze medal in the Men's Shot Put event. With a throw of 15.62 metres, he secured third place, showcasing exceptional skill and determination among a competitive field of athletes.

Similarly, Recruit H.R.D.H. Ranasgalla of the Sri Lanka Army Service Corps won a bronze medal in the Women's Long Jump. Her leap of 5.73 metres secured her third place, showcasing her talent and competitive spirit.
