Brigadier W.M.A.B. Wijekoon USP ndc officially assumed duties as the new Director of the Directorate of Welfare on 9 September 2024, during a brief religious ceremony held at Army Headquarters.

Marking his assumption of office, Brigadier W.M.A.B. Wijekoon USP ndc signed the official document while members of the Maha Sangha chanting ‘Seth Pirith’.

Prior to this appointment, Brigadier W.M.A.B. Wijekoon USP ndc served as the Centre Commandant of the Gajaba Regiment. The ceremony was attended by Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks from the Directorate of Welfare.
