Brigadier P. Vithanage assumed office as the new Director of the Directorate of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers on 18 September 2024 at Army Headquarters during a brief religious ceremony.

The new Director symbolically placed his signature on a formal document amidst chanting of 'Seth Pirith' by members of the Maha Sangha, marking the acceptance of his new appointment.

Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were present at the occasion.
