Brigadier L.K.T. Fernando RSP USP officially assumed duties as the 16th Director of Sports on 02 September 2024, during a formal ceremony held at the Directorate of Sports, Panagoda.

The Senior Officer signed an official document, marking his acceptance of the new appointment.

Prior to this appointment, he served as Director of Welfare at Army Headquarters.

Following the formalities, Brigadier L.K.T. Fernando RSP USP attended a comprehensive briefing in the main conference hall. He later addressed the troops at the Sri Lanka Army Sports Development Village lecture hall, outlining his scope of work and responsibilities.

Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in the occasion.
