Major General S.W.M Fernando WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, Commander Security Forces (West), visited the 57 Infantry Division at Pangolla on 13 August 2024. The division was placed under the command of the Security Forces (West) from 12 August 2024.

Major General W.M.P.M. Wijesooriya, the General Officer Commanding the 57 Infantry Division and Senior Officers warmly welcomed the visiting Commander, upon his arrival. During the visit, Senior Officers briefed on the progress of the re-deployment plan for the 57 Infantry Division, which now oversees the North Western Province and Kegalle District. He also highlighted the advancements in constructing infrastructure for the Division Headquarters and closely examined the existing structures, facilities, accessibility, and security of the area.
