Official Visit of Colonel Commandant to the Home of Sappers - Mattegoda

Major General A.H.L.G Amarapala RWP RSP ndc psc, Director General Financial Management and the Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers (SLE) made an official visit to the ‘Home of Sappers - Mattegoda’ on 12 August 2024.

The Colonel Commandant was warmly welcomed by Major General T.C Peiris RSP USP, the General Officer Commanding of Sri Lanka Army Engineer Division. The ceremony was unfolded with a Guard Turnout at the main entrance followed by a Ceremonial Guard of Honour at the parade square.

In line with the programme, the Colonel Commandant addressed the troops of Engineer Division, 5 Field Engineer Regiment, 14 CBRNE Response Regiment SLE and 16 Workshop Regiment SLE, reflecting on the distinguished history of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the proud heritage of the Regiment and also provided valuable advice on maintaining discipline amidst the current economic challenges while facing non-traditional threats.

Further, he inspected the recently constructed Officers’ accommodation area with the votes allocated by the Army and other development projects at the Mattegoda camp premises.

The event featured the exchanging of special mementoes between the Colonel Commandant and the General Officer Commanding of the Engineer Division. Prior to culmination of the visit, Colonel Commandant shared his valuable insights with Officers and penned down a commemorative note in the Visitors' Book.
