The 32nd commemoration of Major General Vijaya Wimalaratne RWP RSP VSV USP psc, the founding father of the Gajaba Regiment, was held on 08 August 2024 at the War Heroes statue in Kiribathgoda.

Major General P.K.W.W.M.J.S.B.W Pallekumbura RWP RSP ndu psc, General Officer Commanding of 12 Infantry Division, Colonel H. Wimalarathne USP, the late Major General's beloved son, Senior Officers, and close relatives, attended the ceremony. The commemoration was organised by the 7 Battalion of the Gajaba Regiment.
