Troops Provide Drinking Water to Drought-Affected Jaffna Civilians

Considering hardships being experienced by a section of Jaffna civilians due to the prevailing drought, Security Force Headquarters -Jaffna (SFHQ-J) on the instructions of Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi, Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna (SF-J) has begun a project to provide drinking water to more than 10,000 villagers in Navatkuli and Kovilkandi areas since Tuesday (26).

In addition, the troops took steps to place plastic water tanks of different capacities in those affected areas for storage of drinking water after the need for them was highlighted by respective Grama Seva officials and the Divisional Secretariat.

Army troops are still continuing the relief operation for supply of drinking water in those affected areas using own Army bowsers.
