The Battalion Training School (BTS) at Pampaimadu recently concluded the Reserve Platoon Course-04, completed under the supervision of Major General Champaka Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces - Wanni (SF-W) on Monday (Mar 27) at the BTS premises.

The course commenced on Feb 13, 2023, with the participation of 10 platoons, consisted of 10 Officers and 250 Other Ranks representing 21, 54, 56, 62, and 65 Infantry Divisions under the SFHQ-Wanni.

The curriculum of the course included lectures and practical sessions on conduct of the GPS, unarmed combat (UC), VIP/VVIP protection, the marksmanship package (handling of weapons with live firing), search and rescue operations, rules of engagement (ROE), special operation procedures, and internal security (IS) duties.

The Commander, SF-W graced the closing ceremony as the chief guest and delivered the closing remarks before awarding trophies and certificates to the achievers. Brigadier General Staff, SF-W, Commander, 562 Infantry Brigade, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks witnessed the occasion.

The Chief Instructor, Major D.L.C Jayasinghe welcomed the day’s Chief Guest.

The trophies and certificates were awarded to the participants for their noteworthy performances.

Best Platoon: 4 Gajaba Regiment (65 Infantry Division)

Best 8-Man Team: 2nd Section of 4 GR (65 Infantry Division)

Best Platoon Commander: Second Lieutenant A.H.M.N Kaveesha - 12 (V) SLA

Best All-Round Soldier: Sergeant L.M.N.R Lansakara - 14 SLA

Best Shooter: Private R.M.S.I Ranathunga - 14 (V) SLLI

Best Physical: Corporal W.B.M.S Rathnayake - 15 (V) SLSR
