One officer and 25 Other Ranks from the 8 Battalion of Sri Lanka Light Infantry under the 141 Infantry Brigade of the 14 Infantry Division of the Security Force HQ-West promptly responded and doused a forest fire that broke out in the Danawkanda, Keragala in the general area of Dompe on 14 August 2023. Their quick response and effective containment strategy successfully prevented the fire from spreading further and causing more damage.

As per directions of the Commander Security Forces-West, 8 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) troops under the close supervision of the Commanding Officer, 8 SLLI, worked tirelessly to bring the raging flames under control.

With their combined expertise and experience, they skillfully tackled the challenging task at hand.
