More Army - used Mullaitivu Lands Released to Civilians

To be in line with the policy of releasing lands of the civilians hitherto used by the Army for operational and security needs in the Mullaitivu district, the Security Force HQ- Mullaitivu as per directions of the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu released eight land plots of about 70.05 acres in total on Thursday (18). Major General S Kasturimudali RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 68 Infantry Division, accordingly handed over documents pertaining to those 8 land plots to civil authorities during a simple meeting at 68 Infantry Division HQ in Puthukkuddirippu after inviting Divisional Secretariat and state officials to the camp, under the guidance of Commander, Security Forces - Mullaitivu, Major General U.D Wijesekera RWP RSP USP rcds psc.

Those 8 land plots of 70.05 acres in total are situated in Thevipuram, Anandhapuram, Maligativu, Sudhanthipuram, Udayar Kattu (South), Chalai, and Vellamullivaikkal.

Previously, Infantry company camps of 6 Gemunu Watch (GW), 3 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR), 6 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG), and 9 SLNG were deployed in the locations and they have now been amalgamated with respective Battalion Headquarters.

GOC of 68 Infantry Division, led the arrangement with the Divisional Secretary of Puthukkuddirippu, Land Officer, Divisional Secretary of Maritimepattu, District Forest Officer, Colonel General Staff of 68 Infantry Division, Commanding Officers of respective Battalions, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks took part in the event.
