2 SLCMP- Erected New Pagoda in Giritale, an Eye-catching Spectacle

Troops of the 2 Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police on a conceptual guidance given by Major General A.L Illangakoon, Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police (SLCMP) adding an eye-catching spectacle to those bypassing Giritale lake bund in Minneriya erected an attractive pagoda (stupa) of pot shape (Ghataakara), next to the standing replica of 'Awukana' Buddha statue in the esplanade and unveiled it for the veneration of devotees on Sunday (14).
2 SLCMP troops turning the concept of their Colonel Commandant into reality with patronage of donors as per guidelines given by members of the Maha Sangha and Buddhist scholars built this ‘Sudugalkanda Moggollana Maha Seya’, dedicated to the memory of Arahant 'Moggallana', one of the main disciples of the Buddha.
The pioneer of the project, Major General A.L Illangakoon as the Chief Guest enshrined sacred relics, valuables in the stupa reliquary and unveiled the pinnacle amidst a slew of monks, devotees, villagers, Officers, troops and members of the SLCMP-Seva Vanitha Branch amidst 'Pirith' chanting.
Members of Maha Sangha, Major General M.W.T.C Mettananda USP ndc, Commander of Forward Maintenance Area-East, Major General A.C.A De Zoysa USP Hdmc Lsc, Provost Marshal, Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks and invitees attended the occasion.
Major N.P.E.N Nerangama, Commanding Officer of 2 SLCMP supervised and coordinated the entire project.
