Army Coordinates Supply of Free Exercise Books to 300 Welioya Students

622 Infantry Brigade troops of the 62 Infantry Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni with the patronage received from the Old Boys' Associations of Royal College, Colombo and the University of Sri Jayawardenapura under the Phase-2 of the 'Atha-Hitha' humanitarian project distributed packs of exercise books to new Grade 1 school-goers on Monday (Feb 27).
At the outset, 300 packs of books to the value of Rs. 900,000/= were distributed among 300 freshers, belonging to 14 schools in Welioya and Padavi-Sripura educational zones after inviting them to three selected school compounds.
The organizational aspect of the project was spearheaded by Lieutenant Colonel Senaka Munasinghe, Commanding Officer, 9 Gajaba Regiment and the troops under the guidance of Major General Janaka Ranasinghe, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 62 Infantry Division and under the supervision of Brigadier Enoj Herath, Commander, 622 Infantry Brigade.
The GOC, 62 Infantry Division attended the occasion as the Chief Guest with Mr Prasad Lokubalasooriya, Coordinator of the donation and representatives of both Old Boys' Associations. Senior Officers, Officers, Other Ranks, Principals, Tutorial Staff with students joined the project at specific locations.
