Major General J.K.R. Jayakody RWP USP, Centre Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps (SLAWC), was honoured at the Regimental Centre SLAWC in Borella following his promotion to the rank of Major General.

Upon arrival, he was warmly welcomed by Senior Officers and then accorded a Guard Turnout by troops of the SLAWC at the main entrance. A floral tribute was subsequently paid at the War Heroes Monument to honour the SLAWC War Heroines who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

Afterwards, he was honoured in a Guard of Honour salute, followed by all ranks tea. The day concluded with a Dinner Night hosted by all Officers at the Officers' Mess. During the event, a special memento was presented to the newly promoted Senior Officer by Major General S. Kasthurimudali RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding of the 56 Infantry Division and Colonel Commandant of the SLAWC, in recognition of his distinguished service and recent promotion.
