The reaping ceremony of the paddy harvest for the "Yala" season began with a blend of Hindu and Buddhist traditional religious rituals, under the guidance of Major General S. Kasturimudali RSP ndc psc, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 56 Infantry Division.

The four acres of paddy fields were cultivated a few months ago with early-maturing varieties and the first share of paddy was kept at same place by wishing better yielding. The harvested paddy will be sold to Army personnel at affordable prices.
