Troops of the 8 Gemunu Watch (GW) of 583 Brigade under the Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West) , took immediate steps to bring a fast spreading bushfire under control in the general area of Andagala, Pilapitiya in Rathnapura on Monday (13).

The fire that broke out in the general area of Pilapitiya was brought to the notice of the troops of the 8 GW serving Rathnapura area who afterwards reached the area swiftly and brought it under control.

More than 60 Army personnel at ground level contributed to wrest control of the fast spreading fire.

In the meantime, troops of the 2 (V) Sri Lanka Rifle Corps (SLRC) of the 111 Brigade serving the 11 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C) took immediate steps to bring a fast spreading bushfire under control in the general area of Mawathura in Kandy on Monday (13).

Around 20 troops of 2 (V) SLRC actively contributed to douse the fire.
