Major General L Abeywardena (Rtd) USP of Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (SLASC) passed away on Monday (03 June 2024) due to a brief illness at the Colombo Army Hospital, Narahenpita. He was 65 years of age at the time of his demise.

His distinguished service and unwavering commitment to duty have always assisted to discover the new dimensions and contributed for the development of the organization and the country. The mortal remains of the departed Senior Officer reposed at Jayaratne Funeral Parlour from 05 June 2024 at 8.00 am onwards for the public to pay their last respects.

His funeral with full military honours will take place on 06 June 2024 at Borella General Cemetery crematorium at 5.30 pm.
