The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC) 23 Infantry Division, Major General W.P Kariyawasam, conducted visits to his under–command Brigades and Battalions with the intention of inquiring the well-being of his troops.

Accordingly, the GOC visited 231, 232 and 233 Infantry Brigades on 06,17 and 22 May 2024. Respective Brigade Commanders, Brigadier A.A.D.P Karunathilaka USP ndc psc, Brigadier R.P.S Prasad RWP RSP USP and Brigadier T.N.K Perera warmly welcomed the arriving Senior Officer at the each entrance.

Troops greeted the GOC in Guard Turnouts and the Senior Officer planted saplings and posed for group photographs with the troops. Further, he addressed the troops and participated in briefings conducted by Brigade Commanders. Moreover, he shared his views with the troops during All Ranks tea arrangements and penned down complimentary remarks in visitor’s book at each locations.

During the visits, the GOC visited the ‘Thoppigala Heritage Park’ and paid tribute to the fallen War Heroes. Further, he visited, 7 Sri Lanka Artillery, 4 Gemunu Watch, 7 Gemunu Watch and 12 Sri Lanka National Guard Battalions. Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks also took part in these visits.
