Sri Lanka Army Takes Proactive Steps to Curb Illegal Activities Among Personnel

Under the direction of Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage RWP RSP ndu, the Sri Lanka Army Headquarters hosted an important awareness conference focused on preventing Army personnel from engaging in illegal activities on 13 May 2024 at the Army Headquarters.
Major General W.W.H.R.R.V.M.N.D.K.B Niyangoda RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, the Adjutant General of the Sri Lanka Army, headed the conference. The discussions focused with the stakeholders on the current issues concerning both active service members and retirees' involvement in unlawful activities, including connections to underworld operations.
During the conference, ongoing efforts to enhance vigilance, regulatory measures and the strategies intended to mitigate such negative influences were explained stressing the importance of maintaining the highest standards of conduct among the troops. These measures include intensified monitoring, continued education on legal and ethical standards, and stricter enforcement of existing regulations.
Brigadier S.C Ekanayake RSP, the Director of Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation, Senior Officers of Army Headquarters, Senior Representatives from all Regimental Centres and Staff Officers participated in the event.
